Sam and Jade's Back to School Survival Guide

Hi guys! Sam and Jade here! It’s that time of year again when we have to trade waves for desks. Bummer!

But it’s okay because we’re here with a Back to School Survival Guide so we can all have a great school year together! Here are some tips and tricks to help you feel like you never left the beach.

Tip #1: Bring Surf Wax!!

While you won’t need to wax your desk or books anytime soon, surf wax is still great to have stashed away in your backpack. Every time you miss surfing, just pull out your wax can and give it a little sniff. It will magically transport you back on your board, even if it’s just for a minute! And, extra bonus, you’ll already have your wax with you so you’ll be all ready to go grab your board and hit the waves right when the bell rings!

Tip #2: Bring Your Own Soap

Sometimes school can get messy! To avoid any sticky situations and keep your hands free of germs, you should bring your own soap. You won’t have to worry about the school bathroom running out and you can get your favorite scent to escape to paradise for a bit. We like mango soap the best!

Yeah!! One time, I rescued a lizard from the playground and I took him all the way back to his family on the other side of the schoolyard, but then I got hungry and wanted to eat my PB&J sandwich. So I ran to the bathroom on the opposite end of the slide and there was NO SOAP! So then I had to run all the way across to the bathroom on the other side of the swings to wash my hands and I barely had time to eat my sandwich. You should totally bring your own sandwich, dudes!

Nice story, Petey! But GET OUT!!!!! This is OUR back-to-school survival guide! No boys allowed!

Awww. Okay! I’ll go eat a burger…

Tip #3: Train Your Feet for PRISON!

The absolute WORST part about going back to school is that you CAN’T wear flip-flops!!! Your poor feet have to be trapped in socks and shoes ALL DAY!!!!! Definitely get used to this feeling and try to wear socks and shoes for at least a week or two before school starts. Then your feet won’t be as shocked when they’re LOCKED UP! And they’ll be ready for sweet freedom again!

To help with this, you could get some cool-looking shoes. Are you more vans or converse? We like slip-one so we can get out of foot jail faster and back in our comfy flip-flops.

Tip #4: Don’t Forget to Keep Wearing Sunscreen!

The rays are still harsh even from the classroom windows. Make sure you’re still protected by wearing your favorite sunscreen. Plus, keeping this in your morning routine will help you feel like you’re going to the beach, just a different kind of beach with desks instead of towels and backpacks instead of beach bags.

We hope you enjoyed these tips to survive going back to school! We’ll be back on our boards before we know it. See you out there surfing the waves of knowledge!
